This week's picks focus on some of our favorite French value wines. Excellent wines with distinct 'old world' styles, all for under $20!
Staff Picks
2019 Domaine du Vieil Orme Sauvignon Blanc, $14
Grapes: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Notes: Domaine du Vieil is located in the Touraine appellation in the Loire Valley. We like recommending wines from Touraine because their Sauvignon Blancs are in a similar style to the famed region of Sancerre, but are often half the price! This is a great bottle of white, 25-year-old vines on sustainably farmed vineyards, nice straw color with green hues, fresh on the palate and dominated by lime and grapefruit. Classic.
2019 Cuvee Jean Paul Rouge, $11
Grapes: Blend of Grenache and Syrah
Tasting Notes: This is a straightforward, no-frills red that focuses on complexity and drinkability. Lovely autumnal aromas of baked fruit, subtle earthy structure, uncomplicated soft and fruity red table wine. A solid pick for $11!
2019 St. Cosme Cote du Rhone, $15
Grapes: 100% Syrah
Tasting Notes: Saint Cosme, located just north of the village of Gigondas, is the most ancient estate in the region. This chateau has been making stellar Rhone wine since the year 1416! This is a classic southern French Syrah, with a lovely bright and pure expression of the grape. Violets, black currants, and blueberry, and hints of smoked meats and earthy minerals. Medium-bodied and wonderfully balanced with fleshy ripe fruit and silky tannins. Drink now, or fit for aging.
Geek of the Week
2017 Domaine de Brin' Vendemia', $16
Grapes: Blend of Duras and Braucol
Tasting Notes: Organically grown and sustainably produced. Juicy dark blue and black fruit, earthy aromas, nice tannic structure, and surprisingly pleasant acidity. Enjoyable esoteric wine from Southwestern France!

Patio Updates
With the impending rain on its way, we wanted to make sure we've got you covered, literally. Travis was busy last week building a new cover for our patio so that you can still enjoy lunch and dinner with a glass of wine or beer safely covered from the elements. Cheers!
