Last Call for the Caprese, Plus More Tasty Wines

With all of the wildfires ravaging Oregon and along the West Coast, it has been a somber week. Our thoughts are with the folks working hard fighting the fires and those who've had to evacuate or experienced damage and loss. The rain can't come fast enough!

PBS-Caprese-Sandwich-Portland-Oregon.png

Last Call for the Caprese!

Unfortunately, the tomato season will come to an end as we head into fall, which means we will be changing up the menu. So be sure to grab a delicious PBS Caprese while it's available.

Our Caprese is much like us, a little different. We have the traditional Mozzarella and delicious vine-ripened tomatoes, and then we add our house olive tapenade and spinach. As if that wasn't enough, we drizzle it with basil oil and a little balsamic reduction before toasting it up to perfection. So delicious!!

Come by and grab one, your belly will thank you!

Geek of the Week

2019 Franchere ‘Cascadia’ Red Blend, $21
Grapes: Blend of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Gruner Veltliner, Gamay

Tasting Notes: Quirky ‘natural wine’ producer from right here in the Willamette Valley. Each year I am impressed with how the Franchere wines are consistently both exciting and delicious. Their motto says it all, 'unique blends, alternative varieties, and minimal intervention.' The Cascadia red blend is sustainably farmed, naturally fermented with zero oak, unfined, and so so so tasty. This wine smells like fresh-squeezed blood orange juice and blueberry muffin baking spices. It shows cracked black pepper and boysenberry on the palate and finishes with a slightly silky texture.
