Week of March 7th
Furioso Vineyards Tasting
We've got a lot going on this weekend, starting with a great wine tasting this Friday featuring local Furioso Vineyards. Winemaker Dominique Mahé will be here pouring these exquisite wines made from two vineyard sites in Yamhill and Dundee. Furioso is currently planting and nurturing many vines at both sites as they look to the future. These are wines of finesse that can be enjoyed now or stashed away for many years. Here is your opportunity to taste wines from a wonderful, up and coming producer that is doing some really cool things. Join us Friday from5 - 7:30 pm and meet winemaker Dominique Mahé.
More Live Music, This Saturday
This Saturday night we are super pleased to have The Fogies here from 6 - 8 pm. The Fogies consist of Lindsie Feathers and Mark Shepherd and they are bringing their Americana style grooves to The Bottle Shop for a great evening of music and fun. They have played all over the area and we were lucky enough to book them here. Join us this Saturday from 6 - 8 pm for what is sure to be a night of some good groovin'.
WINES IN THE SPOTLIGHT THIS WEEK:
Edmunds St. John Heart of Gold
One of the original "Rhone Ranger's" of California, Steve Edmunds has been making some of the best wines coming out of California. For almost 30 years now, he has focused on Old World grape varietals (no Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay here). His "Heart of Gold" is an uncanny blend of Vermentino and Grenache Blanc. As different as that is, it works beautifully. The nose is a combination of stone fruit and wet sidewalk. The minerality continues on the palate with bright fresh acidity throughout. This wine is full of life. The fresh pear and apricot flavors are perfect as we head towards Spring. Enjoy.
Seré 2014
I happen to love me some wines from Monstant and this bottle is right up my alley. Composed of Garnacha (80%) and Carignan (20%), this wine is everything that I enjoy from wines produced in the region. Dark, rich fruit, a good earthy mid palate and a long, delicious finish. Quite polished for all the earthy flavors that it contains, making it a great sipper. If you are pairing it with a meal, roast off some pork chops and let it ride. Nice and simple. And because everything this young winemaker produces is organically grown, you can feel even better about supporting him.
